Learn More About Video Game Competitions A Passion For Gaming

November 20, 2011 by Dan Rivalspot

In case you haven’t noticed, video games have been growing more and more popular every year. Part of this might have to do with the development of a competitive system that rewards players for certain accomplishments during offline and online play. This system brings out the spirit of many players who simply enjoy the innocent contest between skilled combatants, as well as those who seek glory at any of the many video game competitions around the world.

Interestingly, video games have become a sport of sorts; something that can take a lot of practice to master. Obviously, technology has improved the way gamers experience games today, which means that those who truly want to be among the best must practice, just like in sports. You have to learn how to use your equipment, understand the complex system of the game world, and employ your own skills in order to be considered as one of the best.

Of course, there are no better places to prove that you are the best in the world at gaming than the world’s largest gaming competitions yet. Whether you are a console gamer, prefer portable systems, or are an old-school PC gamer there are several options available to you where you can prove your worth. In fact, some people even turn professional after winning these contests receiving merchandise, monetary winnings, and even sponsorships.

These competitions feed on the natural human inclination to compete. As an animal, it is in the blood to compete to be the best, but as humans, the need to survive is overwritten simply for pride and bragging rights. Of course, prize money isn’t so bad either. At the same time, people love to watch competitions where players via against each other, pitting their skills against one another to see who comes out on top.

While video game competitions can help you gain notoriety among the top gamers in the world, you certainly do not have to compete on a global scale if you want to experience the joys that competitive gaming can offer. Indeed, social gaming has introduced many people who might not otherwise play games to the casual and social side of the video game culture through online connectivity.

Many people who use social networks are probably familiar with the concept of social gaming. The risk is extremely low but the rewards are still enough to entice people to keep playing. It also provides an opportunity to connect with people on a common ground and perhaps add a little competition to your day.

Social gaming allows people to communicate with each other through a common portal. It is a means to appreciate the soul of the most spirited game competitions without having to be one of the best in the world. People play video games because of the rewards involved, and social gaming provides these as well.

Whether you like to play for fun or to compete, video games are now a major part of the popular culture. Competitions help to celebrate their popularity and improve the culture that surrounds it, much like professional sports and many of the extra-curricular clubs you may have participated in during high school.

Modded Controllers Working In The Gears Of War 3 Beta

At Evil Controllers we’ve recently been given the chance to work with one of our modded controllers designed for Gears of War 2, the Active Reload Gears of War 2 controller. I just want to say, it makes the game even more fun than using a regular Microsoft Controller (don’t misunderstand, the Gears of War series is fun, but it’s way more enjoyable using a rapid fire controller mod to destroy the Locust Horde).

Your curiosity is piqued, so Evil, does the controller modded work with all the old Gears of War weapons? Yeah, they do. The functions still work on all of the old weapons originally found in Gears of War 2. If you find them in Gears of War 3 the mod function still work with only 2 exceptions: The Hammer Burst and the classic Pistol. You can’t use active reload’s rapid fire ability on the pistol, but active reload still as great as ever. The active reload function doesn’t work on the Hammer Burst weapon, yet the controller’s rapid fire works without any issues.

Of all of the old weapons from Gears of War 2, found in Gears of War 3. Those were the only two controllers to have had any issues with the Gears of War 3 Beta.

Thankfully, you have nothing to worry about. Evil Controllers is working on making both the pistol and Hammer Burst fully operational by the time Gears of War comes out. We are also working on making the new weapons compatible with our two modded controller features. Although it’s just a beta, you can suspect Evil Controllers is working hard to have a controller mod ready for the Fall release of Geras of War 3.

While you wait, pick up an Active Reload controller or a rapid fire controller. Many Gears of War 2 mods work just fine in the Gears of War 3 beta. So test out your mod ahead of time. You’ll find the experience is even more fun.

Be prepared for Gears of War 3 with our controller. If you’re just interested in modded controllers visit our site and signup for our newsletter for your chance to win 20,000 Microsoft Points!

What Does A Gaming Computer Need?

November 18, 2011 by Owen Jones

In order for any article of apparatus to function it needs to have certain requirements met. For instance, most pieces of equipment need electricity, but there are other, more delicate devices that have more specific requirements. Computer programs are a decent instance of these. All computer programs need a minimum amount of memory and a definite minimum speed processor to run in.

Computer games are just computer programs, albeit very specialized ones and they have very precise requirements too. Computer games generally need speed, which means plenty of processing power to read the game/program itself and read the directions from peripherals such as the gaming console.

Therefore, in order to play the faster games, you really require a high spec machine – a much faster machine than you need to run an office and you can browse the Net on a computer that is ten years old.

Another factor in the gaming industry is that the games designers all use the latest and greatest apparatus on the market in order create and test their concepts. Therefore, the end user will have to use comparable equipment in order to get the most from their games.

The minimum needs for playing a game are usually written on the box. Pay attention to the minimum speed of processor; minimum graphics card; minimum RAM; minimum monitor resolution.

The CPU or processor’s speed is normally the stumbling block for gamers. A computer is soon out of date. You can usually upgrade the processor for two or three years, but after that you might need a new motherboard or even a new computer. Units of speed are measured in MHz and GHz (1,000 MHz is equal to 1 GHz). An office computer will gladly run most office programs at 2 GHz – 2.5GHz, but you will require 3+ GHz to run most games.

RAM is also terribly critical for games because this is the region within a computer that holds the information that has to get processed most frequently or simply next. Everything else gets written to disk even if it is only for a few seconds. Therefore, the larger the RAM, the less saving to and reading from disk, which takes comparatively a lot more time. Office machines are happy with 2 GB, games machines may need 3-4 GB. Four or five years ago, most people were glad with 500 MB or even 1,000 MB (or 1 GB).

Video RAM (VRAM) used to get borrowed from RAM, which was a bit of a con, really. These days, high-spec machines have their own VRAM. Have as much as you can, but minimum 500-1,000 MB. VRAM is used by the video card to manage the graphics.

Hard Disk capacity used to be a concern but hardly ever is these days. Games are usually loaded from a CD drive or a flash card, but you need a minimum amount of free HD space to save back and forth to (see RAM above). One note here though, if you are buying a new HD or CD drive, go for the fastest you can afford, but most of them are good enough nowadays. The same with monitors.

The Perfect And Greatest NCAA 11 Defense Tips And Strategies To Ensure A Victory

November 17, 2011 by Dan Rivalspot

As the well-known phrase states, the defense win games and the offense merely sells tickets. Similar phrases should pertain to the many football videogames. Football games are exciting and most players want NCAA 11 defense tips and advice. A great and prominent defense can rain chaos on the other team and the best actions taken by the offense will be futile. The entire goal of the defense is to gain possession of the football and give it to your offensive players to make a touchdown.

All day and every day an offense team will run through you if you allow it. Ensuring that you stop the process of the run is not only essential in reality, but the game. Take a glance at the opponents offensive line-up. The determining factor of the play is based upon where the full back and tight end are located. A break for the opposite path may be the oppositions plan if the football is placed on a hash mark.

Once you know the direction of the play, point your lineman and linebacker in that way. This is always a risk, but it works a lot of the time. If it does work, the running back will be tackled and cause a loss on the opposition.

If you are up against a more avid player then this will be a little trickier. A more advanced player will simply just use the controls to shift the play to the other side, which may end up confusing you. In these instances, keep your linebackers in place and shift your linemen slightly. Also, stay alert and react to trends.

When you are defending against the pass do not be predictable. It is important to throw as many things at the offense as you can to keep them guessing. If the offense knows what your attempting then you will not last long. Man coverage and zone coverage have their own advantages. Man coverage allows you to rush the quarterback easier, while a zone can force a bad pass.

You should change up and disguise your scheme no matter what. Your opponent will try to read your defense based on how you are lined up. What you can do is act like you are going to blitz, but drop into coverage right before the ball is snapped. Likewise, you can fake coverage, but actually blitz.

By doing that you may confuse the offensive. They may panic and throw an interception, or think everything is alright and get sacked. However, your timing is everything. You could very well get stuck in your bluff formation if you switch too late. With practice, you will get the hang of it and be able to play mind games with your opponent all day.

Finally, do not take risks unless you have to. Swatting down a pass may be the better choice over going for the interception. Interceptions are nice, but if it does not work you will give up a big play, or maybe even points. By being smart and conservative the tempo of the game will be yours.

An unlocked Nintendo Wii can be very beneficial for any Wii owner. This is what many Wii owners nowadays are opting for, since it allows them to play with Wii games that are downloaded from the Internet. If you want to download Wii games on your computer and transfer it to your Wii system, then you are not alone. The convenience and the cost can be very appealing to a lot of Wii gamers, since a single game disc from a Nintendo retailer can cost quite a lot. Thanks to the Internet and the websites that offer game downloads, free or not, gamers can now get their Wii games a lot cheaper with less effort.

With the number of Wii game titles in the market, it is virtually impossible to try them all out, much less own them all. However, with the number of websites that offer free downloads, a Wii owner can essentially take full advantage of the service and get as many games as he possibly can. But using such websites as a source for unlimited Wii game downloads can have its own consequences as well. Just because it is free, it does not mean that there is no downside.

Although websites that offer free downloads can be quite risky, there are websites that can be reliable sources if you wish to download games for Wii; however, these websites are not. Security and peace of mind are not free, to point it out bluntly. Some websites may require a one-time membership payment, which in return, will provide you with unlimited downloads; while some websites have free memberships but do require a pay-per-download transaction. Although these websites require fees, the cost is relatively small, compared to buying a single game title at a Nintendo Wii retailer; not to mention the travel costs from your home to the store and back.

Aside from the costs, there are other benefits that a Wii owner can appreciate when acquiring Wii games online. A good website that offers game downloads has to have an extensive selection of games, not just for the Wii, but for other game consoles as well. They also have specially designed software that is free for download for all their members. This program provides a secure connection to the website’s database allowing for a faster and safer download.

Moreover, getting your Wii games online can also save you considerable amount of time and money. You no longer have to wait in line to get the latest copy of your favorite Wii game. Since these websites are normally up 24/7, you can download the game pretty much any time you prefer. Have you ever waited for weeks, sometimes months, for new stocks of a classic game that you have always wanted? Well, these websites never run out of stock. You can just download Wii games, classic or new releases, anytime you want to.

When choosing a website that allows you to download games for Wii, you need to make sure that it is well established and that it has a guaranteed full refund. With the rampant scams nowadays, you can never be too careful. Finally, you should also make certain that the website has a 24-hour technical support service, for you never know when you are going to need it.

Don’t break the bank to get your Free Wii Games. Pay a one-time joining fee and get Wii Games Download free of charge for life.

NHL ’2011 Strategy And Helpful Info For Novices

November 14, 2011 by Dan Rivalspot

I’m sure any gamer would recommend a professionally written NHL 11 strategy guide but here are a few basic tips to help you get through the onslaught of menu options presented to you. This years version of the NHL franchise is released on the Xbox 360 and also the PlayStation three.

When first beginning the game there are quite a few different options to pick from and we will provide a basic overview of most of them here. The first choice that should pop out at you will be called “First Time?”. Select this and the game will take you to the team customization menu where you will be able to enter some detailed information on the new team including town and franchise selections. Eventually you will be able to choose a roster, within salary cap of course. Also there will be several starter cards given, these are random and can include rare cards.

There is an often overlooked statistic included in the game that revolves around how much thought is put into assigning your roster. By placing players in positions that they are familiar with, or by placing them in formations with players from the same towns or former teams, you can create higher chemistry between your players. Chemistry effects many different things in the game, but the most prominent is its effect on passing. Higher chemistry between players will produce a significant increase in pass success probability. Try not to have goalies playing center or the other way around.

Selecting the hockey ultimate team option automatically lets you play your custom franchise. Either solo or online in matches against real players. Either option will allow you to earn rewards like collectibles and EA pucks. Playing your team enables them to earn experience and level up, increasing stats and overall rating of players. Remember when leveling up your team, to renew contracts before assigning points as the level up process increases rating, which in turn, increases their salary.

My Collection is an option that will expand as you unlock new items during games. These can include jerseys, trophies and even staff members. This section is basically for visual aesthetics only and serves no functional purpose.

The Trading section is sort of an auction based system where players can search for specific items they would like to purchase. With EA pucks of course. Countless hours will be spent here acquiring contracts, cards, and all sorts of other items. Each item has a timer, of course and could have a buy now price. If you have won a bid on a card, it will be sent to your Watch List in the trading menu and you then can choose to either send or apply that card.

The battle for the cup mode will take you to the team selection screen and you can choose from any team in any of the leagues or choose a random one by pressing the square (PS3) or X button (360) Press either left or right on the control stick to choose your team before advancing. You can choose the length of series between single knockout, best of three, best of five and best of seven. You can also compete for the Stanley Cup or any of the other trophies. If you like, you can now modify other options such as period length and whatever else is listed.

If you ever need a break from the action, choose the “Be a GM” mode. This enables you to be a general manager for whichever team you choose and then manage things like their NHL 11 strategy. You can make them as aggressive or defensive as you wish. The general manager mode can last for up to twenty five seasons. This mode, like the others, has several different things that can be modified.

Figuring out an NHL 11 strategy takes some familiarity with the game and some conscientious practice. Learn more regarding the game and its techniques by checking out the website at http://www.nfl-tournaments.com now.

The gameplay is nonlinear, instead of adhering to a set mission sequence, players are free to select the approach to completing their missions and activities as they wish.

N.B. The sales information based on total games sold has been collated from Wikipedia and is correct as of April 2011. The definition of exclusive games in this article is meant to denote games that have not appeared on any other console (i.e. Sony Playstation 3 or Nintendo Wii).

The need to include the sales from the PC version of Gears of War is due to the Wikipedia article indicating it was not possible to distinguish between the sales from the Xbox 360 and the PC version.

Dead Rising made the list as an exclusive Xbox 360 title because a ‘remake’ for the Wii console (which was released under a different name – Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop) had several changes from the original Xbox 360 version and so believe this an acceptable ‘exclusive’ title for the Xbox 360.

Free Wii Games For A Smart Choice

November 12, 2011 by Barry Penn

The Nintendo Wii has garnered a huge following over the years, since it was first introduced to video gaming enthusiasts. Not long after its release, Wii games download websites started to appear on the Internet because of the rising demand for classic games that were meant for the older game consoles, such as the Super NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) and the Sega Genesis. The demand for cheaper newly released Wii games was on the rise as well. Some websites even have free unlimited downloads. With the huge number of websites like these, the tricky part is choosing the ones that are actually dependable.

Due to the fact that buying brand new Wii games at your local game shop is quite expensive, a lot of gamers and Wii enthusiasts have learned to find alternative ways to get the games they want at a lower cost; some even get it for free. If you want to get free games for your Nintendo Wii, then learning how to download Wii games on your desktop computer or laptop and transfer them to your Wii gaming system is essential.

If you want to learn how to download Wii games on the Internet, then you should know the various ways to do it. If you search the Internet, you will see that this subject is actually quite popular among video gaming enthusiasts. The first method is searching the Internet for websites that provide free downloads. These are mostly file sharing websites that allow the user to download virtually anything from eBooks, movies and video games for almost every game console, including the Nintendo Wii. The disadvantage with using websites like these is that you will never know if you download a good quality video game until the download is finished. Fake programs and malicious software like spyware and viruses are quite common in these sites.

Thankfully, there is another option to get Wii games download, one that is relatively safer and more reliable. Websites that require membership fees or websites that have a pay-per-download system have secure servers and databases, which is why they are much safer and less likely to have fake downloads, viruses or spyware. Now, you can enjoy the Wii games that you are itching to get your hands on, both the classic and the new releases, without worrying about infecting your computer or your Wii system.

As part of the security measure, most websites that offer paid downloads provide a download program that is specifically designed for the task. The user must download and install the software before he or she can start downloading video games, since this particular program is connected to the website’s server or database. As a result, the download process will be a lot quicker and safer. File sharing websites do not typically have this type of service. They usually have what you would call a “download at your own risk” policy.
